These are the rules for using Goths Only. They're a contract, so they're written plainly rather than in the usual fog — you should be able to read this once and know where you stand.
Goths Only is operated by Goths Only LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of California. In these terms, "Goths Only", "the app", "we" and "us" mean that company.
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, don't use the app.
How we handle your information is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement.
You may use the app only if all of the following are true:
One person, one account. Don't create an account for anyone else, and don't let anyone else use yours.
Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, so tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into it.
What you put on your profile should be true and should be about you. Photos should be of you, recent enough to be recognisable, and yours to post.
Your date of birth is set once, when you join, and can't be changed afterwards. If you entered it wrong, write to us.
Goths Only is a small app for a small scene, and in a scene this size one person behaving badly is felt by everyone. These rules are short because they're meant to be remembered.
Any of this gets your account removed, usually without warning:
Every profile in the app carries a report control and a block control, and both are reachable from the deck as well as from inside a conversation — so you never have to talk to someone in order to get away from them.
Blocking someone takes effect immediately and works in both directions: they can't send you messages, and neither of you appears to the other. They are not told that you blocked them. You can see who you have blocked, and undo it, from the You tab. You will never be shown who has blocked you.
Reports are read by a person, not a queue. We commit to reviewing every report of objectionable content or abusive behaviour within 24 hours, and to acting on it within that time — which means removing the content, and suspending or removing the account, where the report is borne out.
Two kinds of report are flagged urgent and handled ahead of everything else: that someone may be under 18, and threats of violence. "They might be under 18" is deliberately the first option in the report list.
We don't tell the person who reported them, and reporting someone blocks them at the same time.
Not every report leads to a removal, and we don't explain each decision in detail. Reporting someone in bad faith — to remove a rival, or as harassment in itself — is a breach of these terms.
Your photos and your words stay yours. We don't claim ownership of anything you write or upload.
To run the app we need permission to use it for that purpose: by posting something, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, display it to other people using the app, and process it as described in the Privacy Policy. That licence exists so we can show your profile to people, and it ends when you delete the content or your account — except for copies in routine backups, which age out, and anything we're required to keep for safety as described below.
We review photographs uploaded to the app and can remove content that breaks these rules. We don't have to explain each decision in detail.
Meeting people is at your own risk. We do not run background checks, identity checks, or criminal record checks on anyone using Goths Only. We don't verify that people are who they say they are.
Take the ordinary precautions: meet in public the first few times, tell someone where you're going, arrange your own transport, and don't send money to someone you haven't met. Nothing in this app should be treated as a vouch for anyone in it.
If you turn location on, the app shows other people a rough distance from you in kilometres, rounded, and never your position. Your coordinates are not readable by anyone else using the app. You can use Goths Only without turning location on; you just won't see distances.
When you match with someone, the app can show a short read on how you might get on, generated by an AI model from both profiles. It's a conversation starter, not an assessment. It can be wrong, it can be superficial, and it isn't advice about whether to meet someone or trust them. Treat it as entertainment, and make your own judgements about people.
We can suspend or remove any account that breaks these rules, and we can do it without notice where someone's safety is involved. We may also remove accounts that appear abandoned, fake, or automated.
If your account has been removed and you believe that was a mistake, write to hello@gothsonly.app and a person will look at it.
A removal is meant to last. Signing up again afterwards — with a new email address or otherwise — is itself a breach of these terms, and we take technical steps to prevent it.
You can delete your own account at any time from the You tab. It's immediate and permanent — what goes and what doesn't is set out in the Privacy Policy.
One thing survives deletion: if someone reported your account, that report is kept for up to 12 months. It exists so that misbehaving, deleting, and signing up again doesn't wipe the record. The Privacy Policy explains this in full.
Goths Only is free. There are no subscriptions, no paid tiers, no boosts, and nothing to buy. If that ever changes we'll say so clearly in the app before it does, and nothing you already have will be taken away and sold back to you.
We work to keep Goths Only running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that anyone you meet through it will be who or what you hoped. To the extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including anything that happens between you and another person you met through it. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us, which is currently nothing.
Some places don't allow these limits. If you live somewhere that doesn't, they don't apply to you to the extent your local law says so, and nothing here removes rights you have that can't be removed by agreement.
If you're using the iOS app, this agreement is between you and us — not Apple. Apple has no responsibility for the app or its content, and no obligation to provide support for it. If the app fails to work as promised, you may tell Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price, which is nothing; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claim about the app, including product liability, any claim that it fails to meet a legal requirement, and any claim that it infringes someone's intellectual property. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved between us goes to the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you and we both agree to that venue.
Before filing anything, email us. Most problems are faster to fix than to litigate.
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect. If you keep using the app after that, you're agreeing to the new version. If you don't want to, you can delete your account.
